Saturday 27th October ‘18 saw Pure Hair host their annual charity fundraiser, a ‘hair-raising’ Halloween Party at Windlesham Golf Club in aid of White Lodge Centre in Chertsey.

Dubbed a ‘Night of PURE Terror’ …it was always going to be one HELL of a night!

Windlesham Golf Club was transformed, with a dramatically spooky entrance, giant spider and cobwebbed gates, guests were granted entrance by a terrifying ghoul before navigating their way through a maze of creepy corridors and scary characters before being greeted by the Pure Hair team and White Lodge Centre volunteers.

140 guests went all out with some of the scariest costumes and make up, an incredible effort made by all.

The evening commenced with a speech from White Lodge Centre’s CEO Lesley Robbins who championed the ‘impact the White Lodge Centre has on the community, not just at the centre itself but the impact they make on the families of the young people who attend’.

Pure Hair Managing Director Val Hunt explained why Pure Hair go to such great lengths to throw legendary parties, ‘raising money for a local cause should be a tonne of fun, if we can put on THE best party and leave our guests wanting more they will always come back, and we will always raise more money in the future. We LOVE a party!’. Pure Hair’s events are cost neutral, costs are covered by the salon and good friend and White Lodge Patron Ray Phillpot. Every penny goes to charity.

The aim of the evening was of course to raise vital funds for White Lodge, with so many fabulous prizes in Sweeny Todd’s auction up for grabs: a two week holiday in Portugal, an indulgent Spa Day for two at The Dorchester’s Coworth Park to name just a couple - guests took home fabulous prizes at cut-throat prices. Finally, the Joker’s Draw, where guests picked a card for the chance to win an iPad.

Food was served but everyone was keen to get to the dance floor! The party started with “killer” tunes to the theme of Ghost Busters and as the room filled with low lying fog to create an atmosphere of terror guests danced the night away.

12 friends even did a final lap of the dance floor in their home made roller coaster ghost train, midnight chimed but who wanted to leave?

At 1:00am carriages collected the ghosts and ghouls. Over £13,000 raised, a fabulous evening had by all with more guests left feeling connected to White Lodge Centre and their amazing work.

How will Pure Hair top this terrifying spectacle? …you’ll have to wait and see!

A Charity Ball raised £16,917.21 for White Lodge Centre & Charlie Grainger in 2016!

With tickets priced at £70 per head, guests were greeted by the Pure Hair team on arrival and enjoyed a complimentary glass of champagne as they had the chance to mingle before the evening began. Many guests chose to strike a pose on the red carpet before they entered the ballroom, raffle tickets were sold by the Barclays team who were on hand to fund match pound for pound* money raised.

After speeches from both Charlie’s Mum Laura Grainger, and from Lesley Robbins Director of White Lodge Centre, Val spoke about the fundraising Pure Hair have done in the past. Five years of fundraising, £51,681.89 raised for Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Frimley Park Hospital Breast Care Appeal. After five years, Val explained it felt right to see what other local causes deserved support. A friend of the salon and a patron of the White Lodge Centre, Ray Phillpot, introduced Val and Ben to the charity in Chertsey, and whilst touring the centre it was clear White Lodge was special. Val had also been following Charlie Grainger’s story for sometime, and when Val asked Charlie’s Mum which local services they have relied upon White Lodge Centre came up in conversation - the two causes were a great fit. Val also thanked the talented Pure Hair team, without whom the event would be possible.

An interruption midway through dinner by a member of hotel staff was unexpected - the manager announced the head chef was leaving the hotel after a long period of employment and wanted to say a few words - a very french head chef took to the microphone to say farewell, that it had always been his ambition to sing and he was leaving to follow his dream. Confused, many guests were wondering how the hotel staff could presume to be so rude as to interrupt the evenings events, not least of all when the chef began to sing so badly. However, 3 songs later finishing with a superbly operatic rendition of‘Nessun Dorma’ it was clear the chef wasn’t an unscheduled interruption, instead secretly disguised surprise entertainment!

During the live auction guests bid for football and rugby experience days, a unique spa day at Coworth Park Spa including private transfer in a Rolls-Royce, a 4 ball at the prestigious Stoke Park, and the star prize, a years worth of hairdressing at Pure Hair.

Guests danced the rest of the evening away until 1:00am, many declaring what a wonderful evening they had on leaving with many asking to reserve tables for next years event!
