Salon Suffers ‘Smash and Grab’ Burglary Just 5 Weeks Before Christmas

A hair salon which has been broken into has had £8,000 of stock stolen.

Pure Hair in Lightwater, had a window smashed in the early hours of Sunday morning by a hooded man who gained entry by hurling a concrete slab through the glazed shop front.

The incident, which co-owner Benjamin Hunt says will cost more than £10,000 in damage, lost items and repairs is infuriating.

He said: “This happened at 04.58am on Sunday 20th November. For our business, the lead up to Christmas Eve should represent our merriest retailing period for our Stylists, we’ve been completely cleared out.”

Images of the burglar - wearing a tracksuit with hood - have been released in the hope of gaining additional information which will lead to the perpetrators arrest.

Stolen items include GHDs, styling tools and gift sets. One particular range of styling brushes taken may prove key in directing police to the individual in question. Pure Hair’s ‘No. 1 Brush’ was designed by salon owner Ben, and is sold exclusively by the salon.

The team at Pure Hair are asking the local community to be alert. “If you see any of the above items offered at discounted prices, in multiple quantities, or for sale on local selling sites please contact the salon.”

“Police have told us they believe he broke into two other places on the same night whilst using a stolen vehicle, so any further details would be greatly appreciated.”

The salon shop front has since been boarded up making it secure. The Pure Hair team will be pulling out all the stops to keep the show on the road - it will be business as usual in the run up to Christmas. Both apprentices and stylists will be welcoming their clients, offering top-rated treatments, creating feel-good hair for the festive season.

The salon have won multiple awards including ‘Best Local Salon’, and have been recognised for their outstanding in-salon apprenticeship program, with team winning ‘Apprentice of the Year” at the Surrey Business Awards.
